Tom Mornini

Tom co-founded Engine Yard to provide the infrastructure and support necessary to fuel development of Ruby on Rails applications. He has spent nearly 30 years as a software programmer and software architect and 20 years leading companies as a serial entrepreneur. Prior to co-founding Engine Yard in 2006, he created FaceBridge Research, Inc., a billing service for video-over-IM systems, and InfoMania Printing and Prepress, Inc., an innovator in Internet print procurement. He also served as software architect at Quios.com, responsible for designing the platform that allowed the mobile messaging company to grow into a global provider with more than 130 employees.
Abheek Anand

Abheek is the product manager responsible for Engine Yard Cloud. He has had an eclectic career spanning many roles in technology companies. Prior to Engine Yard, Abheek briefly wore a suit and worked as an early-stage investor at Lightspeed Venture Partners. Before that, he worked as an Engineer and Product Manager, building large-scale distributed systems at VMware, Trilogy and IBM Research. Abheek has a BS in Computer Science from IIT Delhi, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Bill Lapcevic

Bill Lapcevic runs Business Development for New Relic, an on-demand Web Application Performance Management company. Before New Relic, Bill was Vice President of Alliances at Solidcore, Systems, a leading provider of enterprise-class change control and enforcement technology, where he focused on developing strategic relationships with companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Opsware. Prior to Solidcore, Bill spent nearly seven years as the Director of Business Development at Wily Technology, which he joined as employee number 13. While at Wily, he built partnerships with BEA Systems, IBM, HP, Oracle, and others. Bill holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and an AB from Dartmouth College.
Dave Murphy

Dave Murphy brings over 25 years of professional services, sales, product management, alliances and marketing experience in the high tech industry with a consistent record of over-achievement in both field and corporate management roles. He joins SOASTA after three years at TIBCO Software, where he served as Vice President of Professional Services for the Americas, driving record revenues and high customer satisfaction. Previously, Murphy held senior management positions at Blue Martini, Baan, Aurum Software and Borland. Prior to Borland, he held a variety of management roles at Businessland, in particular driving their strategic networking and communications business, during which time the company grew from pre-revenue to over $1.4B.

Willie is a proven leader in the software industry. Most recently, he was the CEO of Emergence Software, which focuses on simplifying deployment of Open Source software. Prior to that, Willie was the VP, Consulting Services at BEA Systems, overseeing Web 2.0 and BPM implementations globally and grew revenue to 32+ million a year. Willie has deep management experience and running high performance teams based on Agile methodology.
Steve Hudson

Steve Hudson is an Application Performance Engineer with New Relic. He works extensively with Ruby on Rails-based applications, advising New Relic customers on techniques for identifying performance problems, tuning applications for scalability and helping organizations get the most out of RPM to improve the customer experience. Formerly Steve was a software developer. He has been focused on web application performance for the last six years.

Mike Culver joined the Developer Relations Group of Amazon Web Services in 2006, and brings with him twenty years of technology leadership experience, including at companies such as Microsoft. In addition Mr. Culver has a strong background running an IT organization, with over a decade of experience in the Electrical Wholesale Distribution industry. As a Web Services Evangelist at Amazon, he helps developers take advantage of disruptive technologies that are going to change the way we think about computer applications, and the way that businesses compete.
Ian McFarland

Ian started working with worldwide distributed Hypertext systems in 1989, working with Ted Nelson at Autodesk. He was on the launch team at HotWired, and was one of the 4 people who by circumstance would determine that banner ads would be 468x60. After HotWired, he founded Neo Communication, a consultancy working with companies like IDG and Sony. At Neo, he started doing Java development in 1995, developing the first client-server application ever built in Java, as part of the public launch of Java at SunWorld. He was Java Evangelist at Symantec for VisualCafé, and was Sr. Director of Technology at HSX.com, before returning to consulting, and later writing Mastering Tomcat Development for J. Wiley and Sons. He joined Friendster in 2004 as employee #4, becoming Chief Architect as the company grew from 120,000 to 6,000,000 users, growing the physical plant from 4 machines to over 300 machines, and automating configuration and cluster management. Ian speaks frequently on the importance of Agile, Rails and the Cloud, both from a business and a technical perspective.
